sea2swe: A Meek Week

Goddagens!

So we went by Dan an investigator we had honestly stopped going by because it was a waste of time and we wasn't willing to give up smoking so we just went by to check on him. He had a definite change of heart and you could see it in his eyes and feel it when he spoke. He talked about his testimony of the church and the Book of Mormon and we set a date with him then and there to be baptized on the 19th of March. We've been meeting with him almost everyday since and he's been going up and down so please please pray for Dan.

This week was pretty disappointing investigators-wise. One of our main investigators really didn't have that desire to keep his commitments and was just arguing and debating everything we were saying and so we sadly dropped him this past week, still encouraging him to keep reading and praying and coming to church of course.

The majority of our investigators are just so there right now and it's frustrating because we're trying our best to help them progress and help them feel the Spirit but it really is up to each individual person to accept and act on this message so that is reassuring.

On a positive note though we have begun working with a less active named Demetri and taught him the Restoration this past week. He had some really good foundational questions about the gospel that we were happy to explain to him and he came to church and the YSA activity after church so we're happy about that!

We had a worldwide missionary broadcast, first one in something like 12 years, about teaching repentance and baptizing converts. The part of the broadcast that really struck home with me was teaching people, not lessons with Elder Bednar. It's something I so easily forget to do in an effort to get through all the stuff we'd prepared or to keep control of the lesson when it's all about the person being taught, their understanding and their pace while following the guidance of the Spirit. Every person I meet has a background with God whether it's wondering if He exists, deciding He does not exist or seeing Him in a different way, and it's my job to BUILD on that foundation, those personal experiences that are so near and dear to them and help them come closer to our Heavenly Father and His perfect character and perfect love. That's the beauty of this gospel is we just start where we are, no comparisons to others, no falling behind in the race of life, just start where you are and start now.
